Lexi Newborn Session | Richmond Hill Newborn Photographer

Welcome to the world adorable baby Lexi Ann! Isn’t she pretty! Lexi was born in December of 2021. She weighed 8 pounds at birth. She joins big sister Cora who is 6 years old. Mom Meredith is a former news anchor and Dad Matthew is the director of sales for Valvoline. This sweet family resides in Lexington, Georgia. They are just overjoyed to have welcomed their sweet baby girl into their family and their lives.

She looks gorgeous in those soft pinks! There’s nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby! Lots of parents (like Lexi’s) join our popular Grow With Me plan. This enables you to bring your baby back at 4 months, 8 months, and 12 months for milestone portraits. It’s a great way to capture that very special first year in your child’s life!

Lexi is wearing one of our many beautiful infant headbands from our curated newborn wardrobe. There is an abundance of beautiful bonnets for baby girls and boys to wear as well. We also have a plethora of outfits for babies and toddlers to wear too, many of which have that antique feel that’s so popular now.

We love to photograph newborns in simple classic poses with our props. She is so pretty in gray! We also love using stuffies! Little stuffed animals make cute poses even cuter! Babies look so sweet in all our props. We have a wide variety to choose from, as well as blankets, wraps, stuffies, and toys in many different colors to compliment your home and nursery decor. We can also change out the flooring to match your own style.

We have a huge variety of wraps, blankets, bonnets, and headbands in our studio. You can choose colors to match your home decor or your child’s nursery theme. Babies look adorable in our sweet bonnets. This is our bucket prop. Babies love it! Parents do too. It’s such a cute pose. Lexi…you are so cute!

This wicker bed is one of our newest props and it is just perfect. It truly captures their sweet little faces in such a classically beautiful way.

Beautiful sisters!

Cora just adores her baby sister!

She looks darling on our beanbag. This is another favorite pose of most parents.

We love it when grandparents are included in our sessions. What a wonderful way to preserve precious memories with them.

It was such a pleasure photographing this sweet baby girl and her family. Jones family…we hope that you enjoy your images for many years to come!

5 Healthy Snacks to Bring to Your Portrait Session | Richmond Hill, GA Photographer

While, ideally, you want to schedule any session with your children around mealtimes, this doesn’t work out for everyone. Having hungry kids at your portrait session is almost always a recipe for tantrums. Even if you have planned your session to fall between meal and snack times it is always best to have something on hand just in case. Here are some healthy snack ideas that won’t leave your kids a sticky mess.

fruit
  1. Fruit.

Fruit is always a great snack and when you want your kids to remain mess-free, apple slices are the best option. Bananas and apples tend to not be as messy or sticky and are easy for kids to eat without getting juice all over them as they would with other fruits. Grapes are also an easy snack to pack on the go and kids love them. If you have younger kids be sure to half them before you head out the door.

2. Veggie sticks and hummus.

For a fuss-free healthy snack slice up a variety of veggies like celery, sweet peppers, carrots, and cucumber, and pack some hummus for them to dip in. Combining hummus and veggies will help your kids feel full so you won’t have to worry about them asking for more minutes later.

3. Trail mix.

Trail mix is a super easy healthy snack idea you can have fun with. Combine nuts, dried fruit, and whole-grain cereal.  Use your imagination and you can make a variety of different trail mixes to keep things interesting. Avoid adding chocolate, though! 😉

4. Whole wheat wraps.

Use some small tortillas to create a turkey, lettuce, and cheese wrap. You can cut these into bite-size portions to make it easier for your kids to eat. If want to cut back on the bread products leave out the tortilla and wrap the cheese and turkey in the lettuce.

5. Home-made muffins.

Most prepackaged muffins are filled with artificial flavors, sugar, and other ingredients you don’t want to give your kids. For a healthier alternative, try making your own muffins. Banana walnut, zucchini, oatmeal raisin muffins, and even apple cinnamon muffins can be made to cut back on the sugar and increase the nutritional value. Plus, muffins are easy to transport, don’t need to be refrigerated, and cause little to no mess aside from a few stray crumbs.

Of course, the standby options of cheerios and yogurt puffs work great, too! Keeping your kiddo full and being prepared are the best ways to help ensure a successful portrait session.

Why Won’t My Photographer Hand Over the RAW Image Files? | Richmond Hill, GA Photographer

Almost every photographer I know has been asked for the RAW (unedited) files by their customers at one point or another. For some, it can be hard to understand why their photographer has refused to part ways with their RAW files but know that your photographer is not trying to be difficult. Your photographer actually has several good reasons why they don’t just hand over all the images that were taken during your session.

When you’re working with a professional photographer during a session, you’ll notice that they’re constantly snapping away. This is because, despite all of their best efforts, not all of the images come out perfectly. Sometimes a specific pose or scenario needs to be shot multiple times just to capture one good shot. Your professional photographer expertly sorts through all of the images that were taken to select the very best ones to present to you. I promise your photographer isn’t holding back any amazing shots – if you don’t see a particular image, it is because the quality of that image wasn’t on par with your photographer’s expectations.

Once the best images have been chosen, they are brought to life through post-process editing with professional editing software. This stage can take a considerable amount of time and results in the beautiful, photographer-specific end product that is handed over to you. If your photographer provided the RAW files you wouldn’t be seeing that amazing end result.

You’d also be surprised at how many people want the RAW files in order to alter the actual images themselves. If that individual then chose to share those images after making their own personal adjustments, the integrity of your photographer’s work is at risk. And please note, photographers always retain the copyright of each image they take, unless you receive a specific copyright release. Modifying your images in any way, without permission from your photographer, is considered copyright infringement and can carry civil and criminal penalties. When in doubt, ask! 🙂

Something else to keep in mind is that RAW files are HUGE and you need a lot of memory to store them. You might also find that you don’t have the proper software available at home to view this type of file,  so again you would be sitting with megabytes of files that you can’t do anything with.

When you hire a professional photographer you’re putting trust in their abilities. You need to feel confident that the photos they hand over to you are a result of their hard work, experience, and eye for the perfect shot.
