Nicolas and Becky were word-of-mouth referrals from previous clients, which is always the best type of referral for any business owner. Becky happens to be a nurse and after photographing several of the nurses’ and doctors’ babies from this one particular floor at a local hospital, one of them joked about renaming it the “MMP Wing.” I could definitely get on board with that! 😉
In all seriousness, current clients passing on our name and referring us to their family and friends is the ultimate compliment and what we strive for every day. It’s true … referrals are the best compliments!
And of course we have a pretty terrific referral program, one that benefits you and also the person you are referring.
The youngest of three (with two older brothers), delicate Baby A. came to see me in late May, one of the tiniest little babies I’d every worked with. But oh! How precious she was!
And Baby A. did have some of the sweetest lips. I enjoy adding macro shots to a baby’s gallery as they are some of the most precious and delicate aspects of our babies that are so soon forgotten.
Even at this young age, many newborns can be quite particular and Baby A. was no exception. She definitely preferred to have her hands close to her face, and we were happy to oblige. 🙂
The happy new parents.
And big brothers! I swooned when mom brought the seersucker Peter Rabbit outfits for the boys … love classic and timeless looks.
Along with family images we capture each parent with their new baby individually. These are the moments that your child will look back on and appreciate. Remember these memories aren’t ours to keep, they belong to the generations.
My all-time favorite mom and baby pose, and mamas adore it, too. The closeness, innocence, and simplicity perfectly represents a mother’s love.
My hands down favorite image from Baby A.’s gallery. Isn’t she lovely?
Thank you, Nicolas and Becky, for choosing me to capture your sweet young family.
As your Richmond Hill, GA maternity photographer I am fortunate enough to spend lots of time with first-time parents and there is just something so incredibly special about them. Of course, the birth of any baby is always exciting and remarkable, but the first born always holds a unique place in your heart, as they are the one to first to call you mom and dad.
Lou and Ashley were no exception. Young and vibrant with the excitement that can only come from the expectation of a new baby, I met them in the middle of May, a month also full of hope and anticipation of greater things to come. Lou, quiet and warm, Ashley bubbly and completely overflowing with love for their soon to be born daughter. The kind of exuberance that is inherently contagious and heart warming, fondly reminding me of my months being pregnant with my boys.
Their love for each other and for their unborn baby was palpable; the camera doesn’t lie.
Ashley chose some of my favorite gowns from the studio’s curated maternity and postpartum wardrobe. We choose tops and gowns that are flowy and feminine, with touches of lace and elegance.
This “bloom” pose has quickly become one of my post popular and requested poses. Ashley looks absolutely stunning here.
Ashley and Lou brought these adorable “Promoted to Mommy” and “World’s Greatest Dad” shirts with them to their maternity session (we used them during their daughter’s newborn session, too!). While we have a wide variety of clothing choices for mom, we do encourage clients to bring items from home if they have great significance to you, or if you would like to see those items incorporated into your session(s). We strive to make everyone’s experience special and distinct, and adding unique touches (like custom shirts), helps to bring that more to life.
Ashley specifically requested a silhouette and we were happy to oblige! Wondering how to create your own silhouette? Simply expose for the background, which will allow your foreground to fall into shadow.
Ashley, looking radiant in a rich mauve colored gown borrowed from the studio wardrobe. And who doesn’t love a classic black and white image? Smoking’ hot, you two! 😉
Lou and Ashley, you know how much I adore you and am forever grateful you choose me to document these amazing moments in your life.

I don’t know about you, but there is something inspiring about springtime that makes me want to fling open the doors, air everything out, organize and clean. Clean out closets, cupboards, the boys’ rooms, the garage. We take bags and bags of items to shelters and thrift stores and it feels so good!! If the slightly warmer air and the blossoms on the trees make you want to get out there and get busy, consider starting with the organization of your computer.
Like me, I’m sure you have thousands of photos stored on your computer and digital devices. You will find that Spring is the perfect time to sort through all those shots so that you can find your favorites when you need to.
Here are a few tips that will help:
Digital cameras are amazing, but they make it really easy to take a ton of images. Do you really need 50 pictures of little Susie in the same exact pose? Not only do those images take up a huge amount of space on your hard drive, but they clutter all of the “good” ones.
Get organized by being selective with the images you decide to keep. Suggestions of ones to delete include:
-out of focus images
-people with closed eyes
-multiple images of the same pose
Delete and don’t second guess yourself.
Place your photos into folders that are arranged by year, month, and event for easier reference.
Transfer & Organize Immediately
Once you’re home, download your images immediately. Delete the “no” images and file the ones you are keeping in the appropriately named folders. If you do this on a regular basis the task will not feel so overwhelming.
Be sure to back-up your images to a hard drive, USB, or in an online location like the Cloud. Digital files are not archival.
Don’t Forget to Print
Again, digital files are not archival. Be sure to print those images that really speak to you or make your heart sing. Choose a few for frames, or create a scrapbook with your favorites.
Sometimes the thought of organizing the mountains of photos you take seems like a daunting task, but once you get started you won’t be able to stop. Rope in your family and friends to make it more fun. There’s nothing quite like sifting through great memories with the people you love.
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day I thought this quote was quite appropriate!
Wishing you all a wonderful March and a beautiful Easter!
P.S. I promised in the last newsletter that I’d share my boys’ personalized Valentine’s Day cards for 2018, so here they are! We had great fun with this year’s theme.

As your Richmond Hill newborn photographer you know that I just love me some babies! Gorgeous Baby O. and his uber-friendly parents were definitely no exception. And of course every newborn session I photograph is special and unique (just like the baby), but this one included a tiny four legged sibling, which made our time together even more memorable.
But first, the reason the Van Houten family became part of the MMP family – precious Baby O.
Rolls for days … how I adore squishy babies!
Gorgeous baby and a simple wrap. Sometimes that’s all you need.
The “sweet dreams” pose is a favorite, but it can be tricky. Since babies are lying on their backs they have a greater chance of being startled. If bub isn’t fully asleep, try wrapping baby first to help keep arms and legs close to the body, reducing the chance of being startled.
Rockstar babies are fun … we can get through so many setups! But please don’t worry if your baby is a bit fussy or tends to wake or stir easily during his/her newborn session … that is definitely more common than not! Any true professional newborn photographer knows how to safely handle babies (and whatever mood they might be in). If you are currently on the search for a newborn photographer, please check to make sure they have received adequate training on newborn photography. I pride myself on investing in quality continuing education, newborn safety and posing included. Experience and safety should always be your number one priority when choosing a newborn photographer.
A favorite image from Baby O.’s session. Mom ordered it big and so did I as a sample for the studio. A lovely 20×24 framed print, displayed on a floor easel. Simple and classic.
Shooting from the shadows and a macro of baby lips. Match made in heaven!
The happy new family!
And of course, the reason for my title … parents cherish these sibling shots! 2-legged or 4, it doesn’t really matter. Love is love and pets are family. The end.
Patrick and Kristen, thank you for choosing me to photograph your legacy for the ages. It was a privilege to serve you.
